Experience Secondary School Science at Walthamstow Hall

Year 6 attended a morning of Science Workshops at Walthamstow Hall to give them a taster of Secondary School Science lessons.

The first lesson was Chemistry, in which the children learned how to use a Bunson Burner and investigated the different properties of the flame.

In the following lesson the children were introduced to Physics, in which they were asked to build circuits using circuit diagrams; including components such as buzzers, LEDs and switches.  They also measured and compared their reactions times using stop clocks.

In the Biology labs the children were offered the opportunity to use microscopes and explored classification systems, as well as being set the challenge of placing all the body organs correctly in model of a torso.

The children had a fantastic morning.

Thank you to the staff of the Science Department at Wally Hall.
