Year 6 pupils and staff were incredibly fortunate to be invited to spend a day at Wimbledon with tickets for Centre Court. This was a first time experience for all the children and some staff as well. The whole day was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Steven remarked that this was “the best school trip I’ve ever gone on…ever”
We watched Murray on the big screen on Murray Mount, practised our tennis skills and began to understand the scoring systems of tennis at close hand to the stars in action.
We all felt very privileged to be able to spend time in the media centre. We practised interviewing in the chair where Murray was to be interviewed after his match. Gaining insight into the life and work of journalism through our interview with Mike Dixon of the Daily Mail has left many tempted to working towards this as a career choice!
We are hugely grateful to Mr and Mrs Smith for their generosity which enabled us to have such a special and memorable day.
