Severe Weather

The cold weather now established across the area looks set to continue into the weekend. Overnight tonight it looks like Kent will see isolated snow showers giving a dusting in places but accumulations of 2-5cms of lying snow are likely in some places.  A more significant period of poor weather looks likely to effect London and the Southeast during Saturday night and into Sunday morning. A weather front will move in from the west, running up against the cold air in the east. A period of snow is expected to effect the area  with 5-10 centimetres of snow possible in places. Once the snow has fallen it will remain cold and any lying snow will remain on the ground during Sunday and into Monday.

I must stress that St John’s will remain open, and I would remind parents of the following:

  • Please do not telephone the school in the morning, as this ties up the telephone line
  • Remember that you should assume the school will remain open unless you are notified otherwise.
  •  Any decision about school closure will be made on a day-by-day basis, by 7:30am
  •  The school will notify all parents by email and text (if these details are held by the school) as soon as the decision to close has been made
  •  A notice will be displayed on the school website (www.st-johns-sevenoaks.kent.sch.uk) each morning
  • We will also notify 3 local radio  stations (Radio Kent, Heart FM and  KMFM Radio) of any closures
