Year 5 & 6 Cycling
Using almost £2,000 of the fantastic total raised by Edward Oatley on his ambitious cycle ride, we have purchased ten new bicycles to facilitate this new project.
Our coach for this exciting initiative is Mr Ollie Ireland, a trained teacher and experienced mountain and BMX coach. Ollie’s efficiency in researching best priced robust bikes and helmets and planning an effective programme has been superb.
The children should come to school in uniform, they will wear PE kit for their lessons which are scheduled for Fridays starting next week, 14th June. The final session on Monday 22nd July is to be held at Cyclopark, Gravesend where our pupils will take their newly learnt skills to this superb adventurous venue.
Further outdoor adventurous Physical Education is planned for the coming year with Forest School for Years 1 and 2 and horse riding for Years 3 and 4.
The recently allocated Government funding to build on the Olympic Games legacy is enabling us to provide these enriching opportunities for your children. I hope you agree, these are exciting times for St John’s pupils
