New Books Grant

We would like to say a big thank you to the Chartered Accountant Livery Charity (CALC) for giving us a donation of £2,500 to support reading throuhgout our school. Mr Michael Richardson presented the cheque to the school at a special assembly on Tuesday.

Reading is an important part of our curriculum and we have many reading activities to support both our pupils and parents.  We will use the money to purchase a  guided reading scheme specifically designed to target the progression of skills and exposure to the complete range of reading genre for all our pupils.

The best moments in reading are when you come across something – a thought, a feeling, a way of looking at things – which you had thought special and particular to you. And now, here it is, set down by someone else, a person you have never met, someone even who is long dead. And it is as if a hand has come out, and taken yours
