Class 5 visited ‘The Kent Museum of Life’ to experience life as a WW2 evacuee. The children (and teachers) dressed in 1940’s costume and even bought rationed food for their lunch.
We learnt all about evacuees, clothes and food rationing, the Home Guard, Air Raid precautions and jobs for women in WWII.When a ‘Moaning Minnie’ went off we had to drive underneath the chairs for protection. We tried some marching for the Home Guard and ‘Splat the rat’.
We all had a fantastic day and one which had the children immersed into life as a child during the war.
